Antimicrobials: handle with care

In 2019, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) one of the top 10 global health threats facing humanity. This year, with the sudden outbreak of COVID-19, greater threats are posed to global public health. And according to the current projections, the impact of AMR will far exceed the impact of COVID-19.

Therefore, to stem the rising tide of AMR, we shall continue to work to raise the awareness of antimicrobial resistance and take multiple measures to address the problem of AMR worldwide, including governments to increase the investment to improve procurement and supply chains, laboratory and diagnostic capacities and ensure people’s access to quality-assured and affordable antibiotics, enterprises to improving old antibiotics instead of putting a substantial amount of money and effort into developing new antibiotics, and healthcare systems to provide the right care in the right place at the right time, in a responsible way, etc.

As members of the community, we can all play a role in tackling AMR, from washing your hands, handling antibiotics with care, to raising awareness and understanding of antimicrobial resistance among people around through effective communication, education, and training.

Tackling AMR is a complex global challenge, requiring global collaboration by companies, governments, healthcare systems, and communities. And it will only be solved by engaging actively, working globally, and sharing expertise and knowledge.

Wondfo, as the POCT leader in China, always works passionately to develop products that safeguard people's lives and shape the future of healthcare. Our CRP test is useful in guiding antibiotic prescribing in patients with respiratory tract infections, ensuring the right care is provided in the right place at the right time.
